Four Delightful Dips for Holiday Parties

The season of holiday parties is upon us! We love a reason to put on some nice clothes and hang out with our friends, neighbors or coworkers. But for folks with blood sugar concerns, holiday parties can be a bit of an obstacle course. You want to enjoy yourself; you also don’t want to upset your blood sugar.

To make sure you can enjoy food at the party, we always suggest two options. You can host the party if you enjoy hosting. If you would prefer to attend as a guest, we recommend bringing a dish.

Everyone loves dips at a party! These dishes are low in carbs but will be a hit at your holiday function. Just cut up some veggies or use low-carb crackers for dipping, and you are good to go!

Smoked Tuna Dip

We love that this dip uses canned tuna. That makes it much more economical. The liquid smoke and smoked paprika make the fish taste like it was smoked, but it takes just five minutes to make! Be careful not to over mix the tuna. You want chunky flakes, not a smooth consistency. A serving has 35 calories, one gram of carbs and two grams of fat. Get the recipe.

Are You Kidding Me Artichoke Dip

We love the name of this dish. At least one person digging into it is bound to say, “Are you kidding me?” as they are shocked by how good it is. This is a baked dip that you want to serve warm. So, if you are bringing it to someone’s home, ask if you can reheat it there. This is an excellent cold-weather dip. A serving has 66 calories, two grams of carbs, 0.8 grams of fiber and six grams of fat. Get the recipe.

Cucumber Cream Cheese Spread

This is a thicker spread, so be sure to add a butter knife so people can actually enjoy it. It’s perfect on celery, bits of low-pita bread and other crackers. The recipe takes almost no time at all if you have a food processor to chop your veggies. If you have to do it by hand, it will be a couple of minutes of dicing. And you must make this the day before a party. Letting it sit overnight in the fridge allows all the flavors to marry together. It’s an essential step. A serving has 68 calories, six grams of carbs and three grams of fiber. Get the recipe.

Whipped Feta with Cranberries & Walnuts

There is something so festive about the combo of cheese, walnuts and cranberries. We love it in this recipe! This recipe is very simple, and the first step is about making homemade crostini. The nutritional value includes them, so if you go for a different, lower-carb option, you will have to recalculate it. This is an amazing recipe that happens to be low-carb; it wasn’t designed intentionally, so there are places you could cut carbs out. As written, a serving has 204 calories, 14 grams of carbs, one gram of fiber and 14 grams of fat. Get the recipe.

We hope you have fun at your holiday gatherings!
