Four Fish Recipes Right Off the Grill

Labor Day is coming up! We love to grill long into the fall months, but some folks treat the holiday as a last hurrah for grilling every year. With that in mind, we wanted to arm you with some wonderful fish options.

Grilled fish is an excellent choice as it’s a lighter option packed with flavor. Unfortunately, many marinades are made with a ton of sugar. That’s why we’re sharing fish dishes chock-full of flavor, not carbs!

Keto Italian Grilled Fish Recipe

We love this recipe! Not only is it delicious, but you probably own almost all of the ingredients. The recipe calls for king fish. That’s called king mackerel in the U.S. You can also use salmon if your store doesn’t carry it. The recipe calls for four kilograms, but four fish steaks will be fine; don’t worry about the weight. When it comes to the marinade, you just have to reach into your spice rack! While the recipe says to use pink salt, the taste varies so little that whatever salt you use for cooking is fine! With mackerel, a serving is 347 calories, zero carbs and 18 grams of fat. Get the recipe.

Grilled Cod with Garlic, Basil and Lemon

Lemon, garlic and basil are a classic flavor mix for fish. And the result screams summer. The smell of it cooking makes our mouths water. This recipe works with almost any white fish. Cod is often the least expensive, and when we find a way to make a healthy, inexpensive meal, we jump at it. If halibut is on sale, go for that instead! The trick to perfectly making this dish is to not over-marinate it. While we often think longer times are better, the acid of the lemon juice can cook raw fish. Remember how long it’s been in the fridge! A serving has 256 calories, 1.8 grams of carbs and eight grams of fat. Get the recipe.

Grilled Fish Tacos

One person on our team’s favorite fish is mahi mahi, and while not everyone agrees, we understand. It’s one of the meatiest, least fishy fish around. That’s why it’s perfect for fish tacos. Marinated in a savory, spicy sauce, it has a hearty bite once it’s in a low-carb taco that is impossible to resist. Just grill it up, flake it with a fork, add your go-to toppings, and you have your new favorite summer dinner. Without additional toppings, each taco has 74 calories, two grams of carbs, one gram of fiber and three grams of fat. Get the recipe.

Low-Carb Ginger and Lime Grilled Salmon

Ginger and salmon are a flavor match made in heaven. This recipe has an Asian profile as it’s made with fish sauce and garlic. But Siracha adds a bit of a kick to make it even better. While the directions say to marinate it for “as long as possible,” we wouldn’t recommend more than two hours. The acid in the marinate will start to cook the salmon. You want the grill to do that! The dish is served with cauliflower rice and is perfect when you are craving Asian food. A serving has 468 calories, 6.9 grams of carbs, 3.8 grams of fiber and 27.7 grams of fat. Get the recipe.

When it comes to grilling, fish is a delicious choice. Any of these options will be perfect for your next cookout!
