Four Ways to Cook Spaghetti Squash to Stop Missing Pasta

When you’re watching your carbs, it can be hard not to yearn for foods that are “out of bounds.” Pasta and noodles are something to limit, in both portion size and frequency of having them for a meal. But, the good news is, there’s spaghetti squash.

One cup of pasta has 200 calories and 40 grams of carbs. One cup of egg noodles has 221 calories and 40 grams of carbs. One cup of wheat noodles has 238 calories and 48 grams of carbs. Spaghetti squash, on the other hand, has 42 calories and 10 grams of carbs. That colossal difference means that spaghetti can be back in your regular rotation without you having to plan around it all day.

Maybe you’ll become tired of pasta dishes — it seems improbable, but it might happen — we have one last recipe for you this week. Jen Reviewshas presented a spaghetti squash soup that is comforting without being heavy. The flavors of celery, lemon and thyme make this winter squash taste light. This soup is closer to pumpkin soup than chicken noodle as it is creamed. The warming soup has only 183 calories and 30 grams of carbs per serving! Get the recipe here.

We hope these recipes help you stay warm and enjoy this winter squash. The groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, didn’t see his shadow on Groundhog Day, that predicts an early spring. However, he’s only right 40% of the time, so we might be enjoying spaghetti squash for a while longer!
