By this point in the summer, we’re always looking forward to the fall while hiding from the sun. We know we’ll soon be longing for warm days again. But during the dog days of summer, the heat can be far too intense!
Our company is located in San Diego. We keep getting heat warnings. While the temperatures haven’t been intense by the standards of some parts of the country, they have been high for us! And it’s all about what you’re acclimated to.
Unsurprisingly, with the weather so hot, National Creamsicle Day is this week. We love celebrating frozen desserts when it’s hot outside. Friday is National Lemon Meringue Pie Day. That also makes sense, as fruity desserts are perfect in summer. To celebrate both of these holidays, we are sharing tasty, low-carb ice pop recipes.
To start our list, we have creamsicles with just four ingredients. Made with Kool-Aid, this is the perfect, simple, classic version of the recipe. If you aren’t looking for a new spin and want the original, this should be your choice when making an ice pop this week! A serving has 137 calories, one gram of carbs and 14.7 grams of fat. Get the recipe.
If you are looking for something natural and light, this ice pop has nothing but fruit and water. It’s great if you want a sweet treat but aren’t someone who has any artificial products in their diet. The fiber of the fruit helps keep blood sugar stable while the natural sugar of the fruit makes it sweet! A serving has 10 calories, two grams of carbs and one gram of fiber. Get the recipe.
As you can guess from the name, these ice pops are complicated to make. The meringue topping on the outside is optional. But there are homemade graham crust pieces inside the creamy ice pop that add an extra step to the process. You have to bake, cool and crumble a pie crust before making the ice pops. Are they worth it? Absolutely for lemon meringue pie fans! But it’s certainly a process. A serving has 89 calories, three grams of carbs, one gram of fiber and six grams of fat. Get the recipe.
While the first recipe we shared today was the most “classic” flavor of creamsicle, this one might be a better pick if you prefer to avoid processed foods. That version uses Kool-Aid for a classic taste, while omitting the sugar to cut down on carbs. This version is a new take with the taste coming from orange zest and a squeeze of fresh juice, plus a pop of orange color and warm spice from turmeric for added health benefits. It isn’t as classic a flavor, but if the ice pops are only being eaten by adults, you might all enjoy them even more than the traditional version! A serving has 177 calories, three grams of carbs, 0.5 grams of fiber and 18 grams of fat. Get the recipe.
We hope you love these ice pops and that they help you cool off!
