Spiced Black Tea May Help Blood Sugar, Inflammation

We’re always looking for more ways to stay hydrated. We love drinks! The problem is that almost all of them are laden with sugar. We have shared a ton of low-carb options with you over the years.

While water is the simplest and most accessible way to stay hydrated, it’s not the best. We have written in the past about skim milk being the most hydrating drink. Sometimes, a drink can do more than simply hydrate; it can boost your health!

Today, we are looking at another drink with potential health benefits. Spiced black tea can be a way to add a flavorful drink to your day without adding calories or sugar.

A woman recently wrote about her daily habit of drinking black tea with pumpkin spice to fight inflammation. The flavonoids of the tea are anti-inflammatory. Pumpkin spice is a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves that can pack a punch of antioxidants and aid digestive health.

We love this drink. In part for its simplicity. It’s a premade spice blend available all year in the supermarket. You don’t have to use it in baking and fall treats; you can make a tasty drink! The drink is inexpensive per serving. You can spice it to your taste. And it can become part of a healthy routine to boost hydration.

We have seen great recipes for spiced tea that require whole cloves, anise, pieces of ginger and loose tea in a tea ball. The results are probably delicious. It’s far more traditional. However, buying everything separately is more expensive, and you need to own a tea ball. All you need for the first one is a normal tea bag and a pot of pumpkin spice! It’s not fancy, but it will work wonderfully! If you want to add spices individually from your pantry, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves and turmeric can all be beneficial.

You can make spiced tea from both green and black tea. With its many bioactive ingredients, people often say that green tea is more beneficial. However, black tea is an excellent source of theaflavins that aid blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

We’re always interested in sharing tips and tricks with you. This isn’t a massive change in your life. But it’s something you may want to try. You could find it’s your new favorite go-to pick-me-up. It might not make a huge difference to your blood sugar. However, it won’t spike your blood sugar, which is always a step in the right direction. And having another tasty drink to enjoy so you don’t lack options is great!
