Tasty, Low-fat, Low-carb Vegan Desserts

They always say you can’t have it all. And, when it comes to dessert, that is almost always true. Finding a treat that fits all of your health goals is virtually impossible.

No one is fooling themselves. Desserts aren’t healthy. They aren’t packed full of nutrition. When we share dessert recipes, we aren’t giving health food tips, we’re giving you better-for-you options. But there are always trade-offs.

Low-carb desserts are often high in fat because the sweetness and a pleasing mouthfeel have to come from somewhere! When you add trying to find a vegan dessert, finding one that hits all the pain points is a struggle. Today, we are sharing four great options. Look at the nutritional information before you choose. These are lower in fat and carbs than alternatives, but they might not be as low as you would like. Desserts are always a treat rather than a necessity. Finding one that fits your day and tastes great is doable!

Carrot Cake

This carrot cake recipe is nut-free. That’s great, as some people hate the walnuts in carrot cakes. Plus, it keeps the fat content lower. However, if you love walnuts, feel free to add them! While the recipe calls for cooking these cakes in muffin tins, the batter could be used to make a traditional cake. They have so much flavor they don’t need icing. But if you want a topping, we recommend a simple glaze rather than the traditional frosting. A serving has 94 calories, 3.5 grams of carbs, 1.7 grams of fiber and 8.2 grams of fat. Get the recipe.

Panna Cotta

You will end up with a rich, creamy vegan version of the dessert. If you don’t tell people it’s vegan, they will think you have put a new spin on the classic dessert and will have no idea you’ve made it without any animal products! A serving has 319 Calories, 9.8 grams of carbs, 4.2 grams of fiber and 28.9 grams of fat. Get the recipe.

Lent will soon be upon us. But you don’t have to wait until Mardi Gras to make these King Cake-inspired cookies! We scoured the internet looking for these four recipes. It wasn’t easy! This one was written to be gluten-free. Gluten-free desserts are often low in carbs because they don’t use traditional flour. The recipe calls for sugar. You can make them lower in carbs by substituting your own noncaloric sweeteners. They are already pretty low-carb, but they could be even lower! Either way, they’ll be delicious. A serving has 68 calories, 10.2 grams of carbs, 1.1 grams of fiber and 2.5 grams of fat. Get the recipe.
