Four Delicious Low-carb Mocktails

Many people have a “dry January” to take a break from drinking after the holidays. We have written about how sober months can help your health in the past. They can also help you evaluate your relationship with alcohol.

We’ve been seeing a lot of blogs with tips for how to make it through dry January. We are living in a golden age of mocktails. These days, every restaurant or bar we enter has a range of “zero-proof cocktails” that are delicious alcohol-free drinks. It is easier now than ever before not to drink. Brands like Liquid Death made their canned water look like beer so that you could drink it at a bar without anyone asking why you weren’t drinking, and so the person drinking it didn’t feel left out.

Because of this, blogs of “tips” give us pause. If a person has a hard time abstaining from alcohol for 31 days, they should speak to their doctor. They may have a drinking problem. A 31-day break from alcohol is an excellent rest period for your body. Still, it shouldn’t be an excruciating task for you.

Whether you are having a dry January, or you rarely drink, mocktails are always pleasant. We love what we often refer to as “fancy drinks.” But they are usually made with syrups and sugar-heavy ingredients. So, here are four delicious low-carb options to enjoy in January and beyond.

Keto Easy Virgin Peach Bellini

These are perfect for brunch. They are also wonderful for celebrations, so keep this recipe handy for Valentine’s Day! Homemade peach puree makes this more delicious than when you top up champagne with peach juice from a can. It also cuts down on the sugar while adding a little fiber! It tastes fresher and feels more gourmet. A serving has 12 calories, 3.1 grams of carbs and 0.6 grams of fiber. Get the recipe.

Low-carb Blackberry Mojito

Mojitos, to us, are the peak summer drink. So, they are perfect for dreary January days when we dream of sunny days and warm beaches! We love out-of-season cocktails because they let us imagine the weather we long for. This drink comes together in just seconds, but it will transport you to the deck of a cruise ship or to the side of a pool! A serving has 24 calories, six grams of carbs and two grams of fiber. Get the recipe.

Watermelon Mocktail

Watermelon is a fruit that many people with blood sugar concerns stay away from because it has a GI of 72. But it has a GL of only five, making it less likely to spike blood sugar. While it’s high in sugar, it’s also filled with water! This drink, made with watermelon, lime juice, club soda and mint has no added sweeteners and is deliciously sweet but healthy! A serving has 39 calories, 10 grams of carbs and one gram of fiber. Get the recipe.

Sugar-free Grapefruit Ginger Mocktail

This is a grapefruit Moscow mule. And it’s delicious. Using diet ginger ale, pink grapefruit and ginger juice makes a brightly flavored drink that isn’t sweet and has as much of a kick as a normal cocktail, just alcohol-free. If you are a sweet-cocktail person, this one isn’t for you. But if you like traditional mules, you’ll love this. It’s a new twist that could easily become your favorite! A serving has 53 calories, 13 grams of carbs and one gram of fiber. Get the recipe.

These drinks will make any meal a celebration and will make any sober month fly by! And, again, if you find completing a sober month to be a massive challenge instead of just a healthy (maybe boring!) chore, speak to a doctor about your drinking patterns to learn about possible options.
